In short
By downloading, installing, or using ScreenQA you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service. Related policies: Privacy · Refund.
1. Who we are
ScreenQA is a macOS application and web service operated by Enigma ("we", "us", "our"). "ScreenQA", "the app", and "the service" refer to the Mac application, the backend API at dqa.knolbase.com, and the website at screenqa.com. "You" means the person or company using the service.
These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Enigma.
2. Your account
To use ScreenQA beyond browsing the website, you sign in with an email address — via Apple, Google, or an email magic link, all routed through WorkOS.
You must be at least 16 years old to use the service. If you're using it on behalf of a company, you confirm you have authority to bind that company to these Terms.
You're responsible for keeping the credentials to your identity provider safe. Anyone signed in as you is you.
One account per person, unless we've agreed otherwise in writing.
The information you give us (name, email) must be accurate. Keep it current.
3. License to use ScreenQA
Subject to these Terms and any plan limits you're subscribed to, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install ScreenQA on Mac devices you own or control and to use the service for your own internal purposes (personal or business).
This is a license, not a sale. All rights we don't expressly grant here are reserved.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of ScreenQA, except to the limited extent that applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction.
Remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notice, brand, or attribution in the app or its output.
Rent, lease, sell, sublicense, distribute, or otherwise commercially exploit the app or the service.
Circumvent plan limits (session count, audio seconds), authentication, or any technical protections.
Use the service to record any person's voice, screen, or likeness without the consent required by the laws that apply to you.
Upload or transmit content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, harassing, abusive, or that contains malware or contains other users' personal data you don't have a lawful basis to process.
Use the service to compete with us or to build a substantially similar product.
Abuse the service via scraping, automated request floods, or attempts to overload or degrade it.
Violating any of these can result in suspension or termination of your account, with or without notice.
5. Your content
You keep all rights to the audio, screenshots, transcripts, summaries, and issue lists your ScreenQA sessions produce ("Your Content"). We claim no ownership over Your Content.
You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to process Your Content only to the extent needed to run the service for you — receive audio uploads, forward them to transcription, generate summaries, and return the results. This licence ends when the processing is complete.
We do not sell Your Content, share it with advertisers, or use it to train AI models. Details on how content flows through our processors are in the Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for having the legal right to record, upload, and process the content of your sessions — including any consents required from people whose voice or screen is recorded.
6. Our intellectual property
The ScreenQA app, backend, website, brand, name, logo, and all associated design, source code, and documentation are the property of Enigma or its licensors, protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of any of this to you.
You may not use the "ScreenQA" name or logo for endorsement, integration marketing, or in a way that suggests we sponsor or endorse you, without our prior written permission.
7. Payments & plans
Paid plans (Solo, Pro) are billed monthly in USD through Paddle.com Market Ltd., our Merchant of Record. By subscribing, you also accept Paddle's Checkout Buyer Terms.
Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period until cancelled.
Prices displayed on the pricing section of the website are the source of truth. If we change prices, existing subscribers keep their locked-in price where we've marketed it as such (e.g. "locks in for life" on early-adopter tiers).
Taxes (VAT/GST/sales tax) may be added at checkout depending on your location and are handled by Paddle.
Failure to pay may result in your subscription being downgraded to the Free tier (subject to spot availability) or suspended.
8. Free tier & launch offer
The Free plan (10 sessions per month, 1 hour audio per month) is offered as a launch promotion to the first 100 customers. If you're within that window, the Free plan locks in for life at those limits.
We reserve the right to close the Free tier to new sign-ups after the first 100 customers, to modify the perks of the Free plan for new users, or to introduce a paid entry tier. Any change will not retroactively reduce the entitlement of customers already on the locked-in Free tier — we may only end the tier for them with at least 30 days' notice, in which case you're free to leave or upgrade.
9. Third-party services
ScreenQA is powered by third-party processors, primarily:
OpenAI — audio transcription (Whisper) and summary generation (GPT-4o-mini).
WorkOS — authentication and identity.
Paddle — payment processing as Merchant of Record.
Hetzner — server hosting (Germany).
Google Analytics 4 — anonymous website analytics.
Full details, including what each processor receives and their role, are in the Privacy Policy. By using the service you acknowledge that portions of it depend on these third parties, and we're not responsible for their availability or acts outside our reasonable control.
10. Service availability
We work hard to keep the service available and reliable, but we don't guarantee uptime and do not offer a service-level agreement on individual (non-enterprise) plans.
From time to time we'll perform maintenance, deploy updates, or (in rare cases) experience outages. Where practical, we'll announce planned maintenance in advance.
11. Termination
By you: you can stop using ScreenQA at any time by uninstalling the app. Cancel any paid subscription from the in-app settings or from any Paddle receipt.
By us: we may suspend or terminate your account, without notice, if you materially breach these Terms, use the service in a way that puts other users or the service itself at risk, or fail to pay. Where practical we'll give you notice and an opportunity to cure first.
On termination, your right to use the service ends. Session files that live on your Mac remain yours. Server-side account data is deleted per §6 of the Privacy Policy.
12. Disclaimers
SCREENQA IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ENIGMA DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.
We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or produce transcripts, summaries, or issue lists that are accurate, complete, or fit for any particular use. AI-generated output can be wrong. Review it before acting on it.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL ENIGMA, ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, OR EMPLOYEES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD 50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. Where those apply to you, some of the above may not apply and our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
14. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Enigma from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of (a) your use of the service in violation of these Terms, (b) Your Content, or (c) your violation of any law or third-party right, including recording someone without appropriate consent.
15. Changes to the service
We're actively building ScreenQA. Features can change, be added, or (occasionally) be removed. We won't remove a feature that's material to a paid plan without reasonable notice.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms. If we make a change that materially affects your rights, we'll notify you in-app or by email before it takes effect (minimum 30 days for material changes). The current version and "Last updated" date always live at this URL. Continued use of the service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
17. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Before filing anything formal, please email us at hello@screenqa.com — we resolve almost every dispute informally, quickly, and to both sides' satisfaction. If informal resolution fails, the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka, India will have exclusive jurisdiction, unless applicable consumer law requires the dispute to be heard in the courts of your place of residence.
Nothing in this section limits your statutory rights as a consumer.
